How Yoruba Students Celebrated First Cultural Day In IMSU (Photos)

It was all fun at Imo State University Thursday, June 28, when Yoruba students marked their first Cultural Day since its establishment in IMSU.  Clad in different attires, the students under the aegis of Yoruba Students Association (YOSA) thronged Grandeur Hotel, IMSU Back gate venue for the programe.

The event, which was organized to showcase the cultural heritage of Yoruba, was graced by many members of the Yoruba community, including the Oba of Yoruba in Imo State, His Royal Majesty Oba Musilu Oladeji.

The outgoing President of the association Festus Oloye Oladeji, emphasized the need for students to unite and promote their language and cultural heritage wherever they may be. According to him, Yoruba culture remains one of the richest, adding that the culture had devised an easy way for transmission from parents to children.

The Musical troupe of the association entertained guests, some of the members recited Ewi (Yoruba poem) to the surprise of the guest.

The highlight of the occasion included the presentation of awards to some of the guests and transfer of leadership power to a new President HRM Oso Ayomikun, a student of IMSU from the department of accountancy.

Onuimo Students Welcome APC National Organizing Secretary Barr. Emma Back To The State (Photos).


Students under the aegis of National association of Onuimo students have on Friday 29th June welcomed their very own brother Barr. Emma Ibediro, the first elected National organizing secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) after his land sliding victory at the Abuja National convention last week.

Students numbering over 150 filled with Joy trooped out en-mass chanting victory songs as the received the lawyer cum Politician at the Imo airport then to the party's secretariat at IMSU Junction.

Reacting to the warm reception, the technocrat and former Commissioner for local government Barr. Emma described the gesture as unprecedented, thanking the students and youths for gladly receiving their own. He went further to acknowledge the effort of the State Governor Rochas Okorocha at the just concluded congress maintaining that there was no Victor nor vanquish.

This is to inform Students of Imo state University that the Management of the school has released the second semester examination timetable for 2017/2018 academic session.

The Examination which is slated to end Tuesday 6th August will commence Monday 16th July with the Faculty of Education, while other Faculties commence Monday 23rd July.

Academic activities literally came to a halt at the Faculty of Humanities, IMSU Tues. June, 26, when students marked the cultural day. It was a sight to behold as students dressed in elegant traditional attires, trooped out of their lecture halls to showcase the beauty of Igbo culture.

Before a crowd of guests, comprising Management, Staff, and invited dignitaries, the students took turns to parade the Igbo cultural heritage. The audience hailed the revelers as they performed traditional dance steps to entertain guests at the Faculty’s Cultural Ground. Anchored by Mc Surface alongside Mc Badmouth, the event featured cultural dances, beauty pageant and drama, Imsu Elijah Reports.

The role of Politics in transforming the Nation was the focus of the seminar organised by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics as part of its activities for the 2018 Nutrition week in Imo State university.  

The seminar, with the theme:  'Politics, the Food source of the Nation', coordinated by Cmrd Tobi Ebenu's led executives was held on Tuesday, June 26 at the University Auditorium.

The event Which was anchored by Mc Jebi alongside Mc Badmouth, had in attendance State House of Assembly Members, Head of the department, Staff adviser, Students among others.

The key note speaker and National President Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, Dtn. Cmrd Dynamic Darlington, in his presentation urged students to add value to their world, because qualification does not guarantee success, but the value one adds.

The entertainment blew away cobwebs as it was loud, lively and refreshing. A little to the right, a little to left.
