UPDATE ON JUDGES ARREST.....

DSS DID NOT OBEY THE LAW ON JUDGES ARREST- JITI OGUNYE

During the programme done at channels television on Sunday politics, Mr Jiti explained the execution of the warrant of arrest, and quoted Section 148 of the Administration Of Criminal Justice Act, which states that “a search warrant can be done/executed at any time of the day, even during public holidays and also on Sunday too”.
He was reacting to what Mike Ozekhome, a Constitutional Law Maker claimed earlier on the programme, described the arrest of the judges as “Most Condemnable by any right thinking member of the society”.
Ozekhome on the other hand, claimed that the law does not allow homes of suspects to be search during the night or breaking their doors in order to gain access.
Mr. Jiti rebuked Ozekhome for quoting an Old Law, which according to him, is no longer in, use. “People aren’t familiar with the law and those who should enlighten them, don’t disclose what the law has said”.
He argued that it is now very impossible to deny that Nigeria has serious ethical issues in the Judiciary, having a common boundary with corruption.
In Justifying the need to fight corruption, Mr. Jiti noted that corruption is the poison of the Nigerian Society, “it has affected our development, stunted our economical growth & destroyed our Nation”.
