UPDATED: ASUU RELEASES SIX NEW RULES TO FG FOR STRIKE TO BE CALLED OFF


During the last ASUU meeting with FG, the Academic Staff Union of Universities listed Six (6) new ground rules that the FG must accomplish before the Strike is been called off.

Below are the rules listed by ASUU:

— The Federal Government should immediately accept payment of shortfall in salaries of Universities.

— Universities to manage their internally generated revenue IGR funds the way they feel like and exemption from TSA.

— Exemption of Endowment Funds, JV cash from TSA.

— Payment of Universities Salary Scale to teachers in Primary Schools in Universities.

— Release/Implementation of guidelines for the retirement of Professors in line with 2009 FG-ASUU Agreement.

— Waiver/Government Fiat to set up Nigerian Universities Pension Management Company.

It was learnt that the following options would be considered at the Federal Executive Council Meeting....

Meanwhile in a statement issued by Samuel Olowookere, Deputy Director (Press) at the federal Ministry of Labour & Employment, the Minister of Labour & Employment said that the negotiations between ASUU & FG would continue after the Eid-el-Kabir holidays.

Negotiations between ASUU and the FG is still been handled by the Minister of Labour & Employment, Mr Chris Ngige and Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu.
Issues regarding Strike action by an employee is Labour related. So the Minister of Labour & Employment is therefore, Synergising with the Minister of Education to resolve the issue.
