Ex-Vice President Bemba Sentenced to Extra One Year Imprisonment


The Vice President Emeritus of the Democratic Republic Of Congo; Jean-Pierre Bemba has been sentenced to an extra one year imprisonment and also fined $324,000 for interfering with witnesses in his trial at the International Criminal Court.

Bemba, is already serving 18 year jail term for war crimes and crime against humanity committed in the Central African Republic (CAR) between October 2002 and March 2003 when he was the then Commander-in-Chief of the Congolese Rebel Group.

He was jailed yesterday at the International Criminal Court (ICC) for bribery,...Etc.
The Presiding Judge;Bertam Schmitt said the sentence should serve as a deterrent to prevent similar occurrence in the Future.
