My Mission Is The Welfare Of IMSU Students - Dean Students Affairs, Prof. Martins Uchenna

The Dean Students Affairs, Prof. Martins Uchenna has reiterated that his mission is the welfare of IMSU students. He made this statement during his address at the First Students Address held at the University Auditorium today being Thursday 8th of November, 2018.



The much anticipated IMSU Students Assembly organised by the Department of Students Affairs under the leadership of former HOD History and International Relations, Prof. Martins Uchenna went down today with a lot of positives.

The event which began in earnest by some minutes past 1pm was opened with a prayer taken by the HOD Mass Communication, Dr. P.J.C. Anyanwu with Aribobo as the Master of Ceremony (MC).

IMSU Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) Victoria Adaobi Obasi including the Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Roskette Ogbu (first female to be in that position), Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration Prof. B. E. B. Nwoke. Other prominent dignitaries present include Dean of Postgraduate Studies Prof. Uchefula, ICEP Director Dr. Vin Umeh, ASUU-IMSU Chairman Engr. Dr. Luke Uzoigwe amongst others.

IMSU Eze-In-Council led by HRH. Obi Emmanuel, IMSU Debating Union led by Comr. Ahaneke Ekene, IMSU Alumni-Lagos led by the chairman Mr. Akano Chinedu, reps from FCMB, SUG aspirants and IMSU scholars (in their droves) also graced the event.

IMSU Star Newspaper led by Comr. Bright Ahamefule were the media of the day.

Prof. Martins Uchenna while commending the VC for creating an enabling environment for an event as well as her support, reiterated that his mission is Imo stars welfare. He assured IMSU students that this is the dawn of a new era. An era that comes with so much "activations".

"IMSU on-campus hostels will be open to students in few weeks; IMSU medical centre will be activated; IMSU ambulance will be on 24-hour operation; situations where SUG aspirants don't   meet the minimum CGPA will no longer be tolerated; IMSU Sports Centre will be revamped" he stressed.

Dubbed the digital Dean, Prof. Martins Uchenna announced that IMSU is going full-blown digital with the introduction of a unified students ID -with features such as a microchip that'll aid voting in SUG elections, paying fees, ATM withdrawals, as well as result-checking. He added that IMSU will adopt an e-voting system for her future SUG elections.

He warned that fellowships/churches not registered with JCCF will not be recognized by the school management and churches that hold services outside Wednesdays legalized by IMSU will henceforth not be tolerated.

He frowned at the dirty state of the school environment and promised an environmental change. He addded that SUG matters will not be discussed till after the panel report on the burnt lecturer's office.

The VC while responding to questions on the SUG assured Imo stars that SUG elections will be immediate.
