The social media space as well as offline of IMSU and environs was agog with a statement credited to the Joint Christian Campus Fellowship (JCCF) President IMSU Chapter, Pastor Ernest Ugonna Ezekwere at the just concluded Inaugural Students Assembly in IMSU in which it was alleged that he demanded that the Freshers' Night Party be outrightly banned.
The President has maintained his stance as well as defended his statement. In a chat he granted to our correspondent on Sunday, being the 11th of November, 2018, Pst. Ernest is quoted as saying: "What i said was clear and that's what i still stand on. Freshers' night party should be made optional. Reason being that christians do not believe in what happens there. Alcoholism, fine if you want to do it, but we don't believe in it.
Secular music and a lot of other things and we are saying that it remains optional. If anybody wants to go ahead with it, fine. But nobody should be mandated in any department, in any faculty, in any hostel else JCCF won't take it lightly because christians are being maltreated seriously. You walk into people's hostel, you seize their stuffs because they refused to comply.
You won't do that to the cultist, you won't do that to the native doctor. You walk into a pastor's room, you lock the gate and you tell him he that he will not leave. I mean, that's practically an insult on the body of Christ.
What we are saying is, if you want to party, fine, if you don't want to, fine. But nobody should be forced for any such thing. That's the appeal we sounded and we stand by it".
What do you think?
