BIOCHEMISTRY DEPARTMENTAL IT DEFENCE CANCELLED DUE TO STUDENTS WHO ARE YET TO PAY THEIR DEPARTMENTAL DUES

At about 9:00am this morning, the 300L & 500L students of Biochemistry Department came with heart full of Joy to defend their individual Students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).

Around 9:45am, the SIWES coordinator informed the students that from the HOD's desk, the SIWES Defense has been cancelled as a result of large number of students who are yet to pay for their departmental dues and school fees.

The SIWES coordinator told them that they would individually need to present their departmental dues receipt, NASS(National Association of Science Students) receipt, school fees receipt and surcharge fees receipt before they would be allowed to defend their IT.

BCH Students started agitating, saying that it is inhuman to suddenly cancel their defense when they have all prepared to defend their Industrial Training.
Judging from the fact that they are all present in school too.

Some of the students said that they should allow them defend today, judging from the fact that the Vice Chancellor has extended the school fees deadline to February 15th, 2018 and since other departments are allowing their students to defend even without paying their school fees.

The SIWES defense date has been postponed till further notice.
