UPDATE: ASUU STRIKE 2017

On Friday 18th August, 2017, the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu disclosed that she would release the total of N76bn to the Academic Staff Union of Universities as a start up, adding that she would complete the payment of all the stipulated fees within a fortnight.
After the meeting with FG, the executives of ASUU went back to her members to dialogue and discuss whether to accept or reject the offer.

On Thursday 21st August, 2017, the Leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities  decided to meet on Zonal levels to let members decide whether to accept the offer given to them by FG or not.

The ASUU FUTO chapter today Wednesday 23rd August, 2017, held a referendum to vote for or against accepting the offer given to them by FG. The members voted according to their conscience and decided that they won't accept the offer until FG pays in the complete amount of the accumulated fees.
Likewise, other ASUU chapters have held referenda to vote for or against accepting the offer.

Three nonacademic unions, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, the  Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, NASU, and the Non-Academic Technicians, NAT, have today gone into serious deliberation at Abuja to decide on whether to join the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
