ASUU STRIKE UPDATE: ASUU rejects proposed hiking of university students fees to 350k and 500k respectively
According to a reliable source, it has been revealed that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has rejected the hiking of school fees of university students as proposed by Dr Wale Babalakin, the chief government negotiator in the ASUU/Federal Government renegotiation exercise.
Prof. Lawan Abubakar, the Bauchi Zonal Coordinator of the Union made the disclosure at a press conference in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
Abubakar said, “One of the major issues our union wishes to bring to public domain is the wild idea of sharing the cost of education between the government and parents proposed by Dr. Wale Babalakin. This idea of sharing the cost of education since government alone cannot fund education, and that parents need to pay for it too.
“He proposed a minimum of N350, 000 as tuition fee for undergraduate students of Arts and Humanities, and N500, 000, for those in Sciences.
“Our union rejected the proposal based on the fact that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria clearly states that funding education is the sole responsibility of Governments at various levels and not parents,” he maintained.
He added, “In his response, he proposed the idea of an Education Bank, where students will obtain a loan of N1 million each, every session to pay the tuition fee and sustain themselves.
“However, our union also rejected the idea of Education Bank, because for one, not all the students will have access to loan, and for those who will access the loan, it is the same parents who served as sureties, and subsequently pay back the loan, considering the very high rate of unemployment in the country.
Recall that the ASUU joined the NLC in an organized union warning strike to press home their demands. The warning strike will elapse on the 4th of October while negotiations are still ongoing between the FG and organised labour.

IMSU student boards "one chance", escapes death
An Imo Star couldn't stop giving God gratitude as he narrowly escaped what would have been a very unfortunate ending.
The student of Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) of the faculty of education (name and department withheld) boarded what is popularly referred to as "a one chance" bus on his way to IMSU from World Bank two days ago (Wednesday), some minutes before noon.
While in the bus, a conversation ensued between him and two other men in the bus. He in the course of the convo reportedly lost consciousness.
According to the Imo Star all he remembered was that his phone (and password details) were requested from him which he provided (unconsciously). He also gave out his ATM with the card pin as requested by the men in the bus.
He however regained consciousness after he was dropped off.
When asked by our reporter about the identity of the bus, the victim could not provide this info.
Fortunately for the student, his account hasn't been tampered with as of time he initiated blocking of the account.
Road users are admonished to be vigilant and careful before boarding any bus, cab or taxi.

IMSU Best Comedian Wins 300k In Another State-Wide Comedy Contest
As regards to your landslide victory.. Were you surprised that you won?
I didn't see it coming but I think its part of God's Promises in my life.
I guess it's kind of hard for you to judge how you did compared to the other comedians, right?
Well, yes.... Because I saw and met good comedians there... But I was prepared knowing that all of them did. As well.
A lot of the comedians I know, as soon as they finish a set, they immediately think of a word they missed or a botched transition from one joke to the next or something else they think went wrong. Did you have that in your head or were you pretty pleased with your set in the finals?
I was shocked, their performances were better than other days bcos it started since Feb./March.... so i was tensed... But I was so confident... mm yeah
That's so interesting... On a final note, what do you intend doing with the cash prize?
Getting my video camera which I already booked 2 weeks ago with faith.... A little give away to my fans and buckle up with business and my Comedy skit shooting..

An Open Disclaimer To Scammers Struggling To Find Their Way
A fake account posted an information on Facebook saying that the school admission list is out. The real and authentic 'Imsu Elijah' have come out to distance self from that post with the warning that the public should not accept any message or request coming from that account.
He wrote
The said post lacks merit and doesn't command the strong and detailed words my posts are known for over time.
I have raised alarm more than twice earlier before now where I dissociated myself and pointed clearly that I have absolutely nothing to do with that account. Why would someone create a fake account with my name and picture trying to mock and swing the ball against my tide remains the unanswered question bordering my mind since last year when the account was discovered and disclaimed. The person in question immediately blocked me on Facebook when he discovered my moves to unmask him.
The general public should disregard any message coming from that fake account and always verify the authenticity of all information from the official website www.imsugist. com
I rephrase again that I have absolutely nothing to do with the cloned account. My real handle remains @Imsu Elijah. Always visit our official website www.imsugist. com to verify any information.
The general public is warned. Please friends help me also report the account to Facebook. Thanks
