JAMB To Stop The Use Of Scratch Cards For Registration And Result Checking

JAMB To Stop The Use Of Scratch Cards For Registration And Result Checking

Report has it that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), will soon stop the use of scratch cards for registration and checking of results.

This was disclosed JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyode on Tuesday at the National Executive Council meeting of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) in Abuja.

According to him this will likely become effective from 2017.

He added that once this becomes effective, students would generate a PIN number for themselves from their phone or computers before registering for examinations.

He frowned at situations whereby banks and vendors hoard the cards, only to sell them at a higher price.

He equally charged NASU members to involve in the ownership of Computer-Based Testing Centres, saying those who own the centres are businessmen merely exploiting students.

JAMB Will Not Allow Institutions To Reject Candidates Unreasonably - JAMB Boss

JAMB Will Not Allow Institutions To Reject Candidates Unreasonably - JAMB Boss

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that it will not allow institutions to reject candidates arbitrarily or as result of sudden change in admission criteria.

This was made known by the Registrar, Professor Is-haq O. Oloyede during the extra ordinary technical committee meeting on 2016 admissions to first choice institutions at Baze University, Abuja.

According to him, “JAMB will not accept whatever is done arbitrarily and I hope those that are here will make adjustment. They must be able to explain why somebody with high score was not taken. I have a particular school where the person who scored the highest marks was not taken and the reason was because the university changed its rules. You cannot change the rules when the game is on. You have to wait until 2017 to publish the new rules; you cannot have a particular rule and changed to another.”

He further mentioned that the admission criteria by institutions must be reasonable, explicit and must have been published in the 2016 admission brochure.

He equally stated that it is wrong for any institution to admit candidates beyond its carrying capacity and called on institutions that were yet to update their requirements for the 2017 brochure to urgently do so.

Chelsea 1 Liverpool 2... match report

The game started in an emphatic style with Liverpool having an early dominance  of the ball. Liverpool could have scored early on but only for Chelsea goal keeper to make an easy safe from Daniel Sturridge left footed shot. The reds dominance soon paid off when defender Dejan Lovren tapped in from Phillippe Countinho's cross. Despite the goal, Liverpool dominance increased  as they searched for a second. Liverpool were able to wrap up all three points in the 36th minute when Jordan Henderson scored what seemed to a pontential goal of the season. Chelsea were unable to find a goal before halftime. Chelsea started brightly in the second getting a goal on the 61st minute through Diego Costa after a delightful  work from Nemanja Matic. Though Liverpool were pressurized  during the closing stages but chelsea were unable to get an equalizer

According  to Manchester united official website, the portugese man said after the defeat in the Europa league, “You win matches and people are happy and full of
confidence,” he pointed out. “You lose matches then people are sad and they feel it. That is the normal nature of football players. I am here to try to stop them from
being in a negative mood because we lost two matches. They were two matches where we didn’t play well for 90 minutes but they were two matches where we deserved a better result." Looking when asked about the confidence in the team as they prepare for sunday,Mourinho said,“I don’t think it will be easy [to bounce back] but the game will be independent. It is a
new event, it is another match, it starts at minute zero and so I think it has nothing to do with the two previous matches. Obviously when you lose matches then the mood and feeling is not the same. That is normal, but we are experienced people and the players are very good guys. I know they want to win, they want to work and that is what we have to do.” The manager who made eight changes to the team that lost against city continued,“Well first of all I have players that are not here,” the boss
explained. “I have players that didn’t play here for 90 minutes, so it is a not a problem with accumulation. I know that we play at midday on Sunday and at this moment it is 9pm on Thursday, but we are professionals.
Let’s not make an excuse for Sunday because we had to play this game [on Thursday]. The players are professional.
They have to be fit and they are. And they have to be mentally strong to play again.”

Is this famine better than the corruption we did away with? – Freeze expresses disappointment

Is this famine better than the corruption we did away with? – Freeze expresses disappointment

Controversial On-Air Personality, OAP, Ifedapo Oyerinde, well known as Freeze has once again expressed his disappointment over the country’s ailing economy.
The Cool FM presenter, on his Instagram page wrote: “I thought corruption was the worst thing a nation can endure, until I saw the suffering and poverty my people are going through. A month ago, a keg of vegetable oil was N4,200, one week later it rose to N4,800. Yesterday, I sent my maid to the market with 5k and she returned home empty handed, oil is now N5,500.
“If you see the small ram we killed for ileya, it was nothing compared to the humongous one we ate during the ‘corrupt’ regime.”
The presenter, however, commended the Buhari’s anti-corruption war, adding that even though the country is struggling to make a living, he is “proud of the fact that Nigeria is not as corrupt as it used to be.”
“I know the government is trying to fix Nigeria, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but what about those that will die of hunger and lack, inside the tunnel, never to reach the light?
Everything is going up and salaries are coming down, companies are shutting down and with the airlines folding up, transportation is becoming crazy. I look around me and all I see is suffering and hunger. Yes I am proud of the fact that Nigeria is not as corrupt as it used to be, but is this ‘famine’ the progress we are seeking? Is it really better than the corruption we did away with? What do you guys think?,” he expressed.

Tell your people to forget Biafra – Buhari tells Igbo corps members in Daura

Tell your people to forget Biafra – Buhari tells Igbo corps members in Daura

President Muhammadu Buhari On 13th Tuesday in Daura called on Nigerian youths to make the country great again through pursuit of knowledge, patriotism and commitment to values that promote national unity.
Receiving over 100 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Daura local government area, in his residence, President Buhari pledged his unalloyed commitment to the unity and prosperity of Nigeria.
He urged them to remain focused in life, pursue their dreams and reject those fanning embers of discord and disintegration of Nigeria.
The President, who specially recognised corps members from the Niger Delta and South-Eastern states serving in Daura, praised the vision of former President Yakubu Gowon in setting up the scheme in 1973.
The President said the scheme had creditably promoted national unity and cohesion by exposing young people to the uniqueness and cultural diversity of Nigeria.
“I asked for those from the other extreme of Nigeria because I very much appreciate the NYSC scheme and whenever I see General Gowon, I always thank him for that”, he declared.
Speaking specifically to corps members from the South Eastern states,
the President said: “Tell your colleagues who want Biafra to forget about it.’’
"As a military commander, I walked from Degem, a border town between the north and the east, to the border between Cameroons and Nigeria.
“I walked on my foot for most of the 30 months that we fought the Nigeria-Biafra civil war, in which at least 2 million Nigerians were killed.
“We were made by our leaders to go and fight Biafra not because of money or oil, because oil was not critical factor then, but because of one Nigeria.
“So if leaderships at various levels failed, it was not the fault of the rest of Nigerians who have no quarrel with one another.
“So please tell your colleagues that we must be together to build this country. It is big enough for us and potentially big enough in terms of resources.
”Those who work hard will earn a respectable living. I have seen this country, I fought for this country and I will continue to work for the unity of this country,’’ the President said.
In his remarks, Mr Egbewumi Adebolu, the Corps Liaison Officer in Daura, thanked the President for the honour of receiving them and making their stay in Daura memorable.
He said the youths strongly believed in the programme of the President to reduce unemployment and create jobs for more Nigerians.
Adebolu thanked the President for his personal gifts of cows, bags of rice and cash to corps members in the community for Salah celebration.
Boko Haram releases new video, threatens to capture Buhari [VIDEO]

Boko Haram releases new video, threatens to capture Buhari [VIDEO]

Boko Haram terrorist group under the leadership of Abubakar Shekau, has threatened to capture President Muhammadu Buhari.
The degraded extremist group, in a new video released on Tuesday, said it remains stronger than ever.
The Islamist sect in the video which was recorded in video images of two Eid grounds, vowed to continue its attacks against Nigerians.
Referring to Buhari as an infidel, the group said, “This is our eid prayer from us and by the support of our leader Imam Abubakar Al-Shekau, we are extending our greetings to our people and fighters.
“Message to the infidels and the leader of the entire infidels (kafir) who is the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, that he should know we are very strong and doing very good.
“By the will of Allah under the leadership of our leader (Shekau), we will capture Buhari with our hands.”
Buhari has lost his memory – Fani-Kayode

Buhari has lost his memory – Fani-Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani- Kayode, has stated President Muhammadu Buhari, had either lost his memory or was not well-informed when he told Nigerians that he inherited nothing from the PDP administrations of Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan.
The ex-Spokesman of Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign Organisation told Vanguard that President Buhari had in the last one year and three months, brought nothing but chaos, destruction, division, fear, deaths and shame to Nigeria compared to the PDP governments he was ridiculing.
He said, “It is obvious that President Muhammadu Buhari has either lost his memory or he has been badly misinformed.
“If you look at the state of the country in 1999 when former President Olusegun Obasanjo took over and compare it to what it was in 2007 when he left office, you will find out that there was not just development but also a miraculous transformation in every sector; that is what Obasanjo managed to achieve and I am very proud to be part of that government and part of those legacies.
“After Obasanjo left, Umaru Yar’ Adua took over and then came former President Goodluck Jonathan. As far as I am concerned, Jonathan built on Obasanjo’s legacies and foundation and he took us to yet another level.
“If you compare Nigeria in 2015 by the time Jonathan left to 1999 before Obasanjo came in, you will have to thank the PDP for lifting this nation up and taking us from strength to strength.
“By the time Jonathan left in 2015, we had the largest economy on the African Continent and the fastest growing economy in the world, among other things.
“In one year and three months, all of that have been destroyed by President Buhari and his APC, we are now back in the dark ages. Every sector in the country has been destroyed and everyone is complaining.
“President Buhari has brought nothing, but ethnic cleansing, recession, abuse of power, persecution, genocide, chaos, destruction, division, fear, deaths and shame to Nigeria and they have no other way of running the country, but to intimidate the citizens and threaten them. That is his own legacy.
“It should also be noted that a large number of people that supported Buhari in his quest to become the president, last year, were all originally from the PDP, whether the PDP governors, who decamped or PDP ministers who decamped or PDP legislators who decamped, 70 percent of people that helped to put Buhari in power used to be PDP including former President Olusegun Obasanjo; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Senate President Bukola Saraki; Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; former speakers Aminu Tambuwal, Aminu Masari; Umar Ghali Naaba; former minister of the Federal Capital Territory and governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El- Rufai; Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State; Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former governors Olagunsoye Oyinlola; Segun Oni; Danjuma Goje; Aliyu Wammakko; Rabiu Kwankwaso; Murtala Nyako; George Akume; Senate Leader, Ali; former PDP national chairmen, Barnabas Gemade; Audu Ogbeh, among others.
“When he insults PDP legacy and said that nothing was ever done by PDP in 16 years, he is insulting those 70 per cent that put him in power starting with Obasanjo and I think that this is most unfair and very ungrateful of him.”.
